Reprise, 2006

This is the film equivalent of the song 'the past is a grotesque animal' by of montreal. So there is no point on me trying to explain, or say what is it about, you are gonna have to watch  it. I would just say its excellent. I've written here a bit of a dialogue, which is by no means a synthesis of the film, but may be just about its arrogant honesty feeling.

- Girls aren't cool. They can be pretty or 'cute'
and with some serious dieting, even sexy.
They can be nice. Dumb, but nice.
But who wants 'nice'?
You want interesting people around you.
Has a girl ever introduce you to any new music
or recommended a book you didn't already read in high school?
Anything just slightly outside the mainstream?
If so, she got it from an ex, her brother, her father.
They just pretend.
It's worse here. On the East Side
they know they're underprivileged.
Here they think they have to have an opinion.
And Intrude on adult conversations.
Guys in long-term relationships become so lame.
They get sucked into this feminine sphere of TV-series and nice dinners.
They get less and less time to read and listen to music.
Eventually they don't even miss it.
They end up as understimulated, bourgeois retards.
-Bullshit
-Feeling guilty is slave mentality.
Sometimes you have to be Zarathustra. Be mean.

Noise, 2007

not particularly good or bad.. one to watch on a sunday I would say, or after something too heavy, just to wash the taste away... somehow I liked you never really get to know what was her problem, its like in bland stories you don't really care anyway.. anyhow,  it was visually kind of pleasant..

El Mar, 2000

Spanish remember pretty well the horrors of la guerra santa and the civil war I guess, and have grown some sort of sordid love around it, cos they make the most beautiful gore films. The first one I remember seen was Cria Cuervos and I was around 6. I remember it made me feel that I was about to see something very sad and that it was gonna stay, but that I was also quite  morbidly curious about it. Funnily enough the next time I saw that actress, she was, now a grown up woman, in what I would say was the starting off the proper spanish gore, Thesis.

Watch El Mar, it is horribly beautiful and sad. And it will stay with you.. so I recommend to have some comedy to watch at hand, to wash the after taste away.

The Dead Photos, Tom Phillips

'Meantime we shall express our darker purpose.
Give me the map there. Know that we have divided
In three our kingdom:and business from our age;
conferring them on younger strenghts, while we
    Unburthen'd crawl toward death.'

Daniel Del Nero

The eighties brought the obsession for the future in decay, the terrible consequences of human existence, the inevitable destruction of all things beautiful. And to my delight, the kids who grew up watching Mad Max, Blade Runner, The Terminator, RoboCop and the like are now making all sort of responses to this fascination.

What you see here is 'After Effects',  Daniel De Nero's moldy architectural models with a coating of flour and water.

“…the sense of time and destiny of the planet after the human species.”

"...how to reproduce in small scaled the particular sensation of being in a lonely, abandoned place."

Ah...

I won't run far.
I won't run far.
I won't run far.

I can always be found.
I can always be found.

Ah...

If you need me,
If you need me,
If you need me,

I can always be found.
I can always be found.

Ah...

If you want me to stay,
If you want me to stay,
If you want me to stay,

I will stay by your side.
I will stay by your side.
I will stay by your side.

I won't run far.
I won't run far.
I won't run far.

I can always be found.
I will stay by your side,
And I want you to find me,
so I'll stay by your side.

Ah...

If you need me,
If you need me,
If you need me,

I can always be found.
I can always be found.
I can always be found.

Ah...

I won't run far.
I won't run far.
I won't run far.

I can always be found.
I can always be found.
I can always be found.

The Good Gods!

Don't you just fucking love when the post man brings something nice for a change?

Today he brought me a CD with 5 tracks from The Good Gods! inside a hand made sleeve and with a lovely badge and a picture of a cat!!

They send it to me for free when I signed up for updates!!  I'm officially inlove with them.

This has totally made my week.

You should  listen to them, so go here, now.

UNMADE BEDS (2009)

Every now and then, I accidentally find some photograph, or a song, or a film that is slightly cheese in a way I would like to have been part of, but more like if wish i had woken up with that song playing in the radio, when back home it was hard to get hold of music.. or when you find a family photo you haven't seen in a long long time and you recognise your favourite cardigan when you were a kid.

This film felt like that. And I really loved the soundtrack.

You can watch it here.  And you can hear and even download here the best as cheesiest of songs...  enjoy.
