During my lunch brake I went to the White Cube, this is what I saw.
A collection of sculptures and drawings that felt like looking at a wet dream, confusing, quiet, and very sexy.

Rita Ackermann and Harmony Korine

'Shadow Fux' at the Swiss Institute 

'When the young artists and old friends Rita Ackermann and Harmony Korine joined forces to create the work that would become “Shadow Fux,” the show currently at theSwiss Institute, their concept was simple “Let’s make something that has never been seen before.”

Those may be big words, but they kind of pulled it off. Using stills from of Korine’s 2009 film “Trash Humpers,” as a canvas and color smears, glass shards, sand globs, ballpoint doodles and Xerox copies as their paint, the duo has indeed created a rich, disturbing and strangely alluring universe all its own. “Trash Humpers” is an ode to a group of grotesque and mischievous creatures with mummy-like faces, played by Korine and friends wearing face masks.'

If you are around London, make a little visit to his exhibition at the ICA, so you can read a little of his poetry, see some of his paintings, posters and little publications, listen some of his music. I discovered him by accident, and bought one of is poetry book (hand stamped cover
with no author, no ISBN and no barcode), which I red in one sit.

".....in axonometric projection.... not made in perspective, because it does not diminsh towards a vanishing point, but it looks like perspective ... his works are usually made in forced perspective, and in reverse, he is interested to see what spectators make of this object: which when you look at it, looks as if it has already been looked at...."

when rOman first told me about this guy exhibition at the flowers gallery I checked their website and I went like meeehh, kinda thing you know.. today I was there with leonardo and this guy fucking rocks man, moon, if you are one of those weirdoes who gets high at space investigations... you gotta look at this guy.. forget about the website .. it looks boring.. in flesh though, I loved it... well... lately I love everything hehe... like that concert of Michael Nyman that I found so overwhelming that I cry while moon was next to me sleeping, hehehe.... (here, to defend myself I have to admit that I found the first part of the concert rather cheesy, you know he even played the piano track! ... geeeeeees, it was the second part that was fantastic) ... anyway, if you do go to the gallery, forget about downstairs... go straight up...

Later on I came back to this guys work, when I started in looking for ways to make you feel invisible. I was looking into making a mirror full body size ( a whole wall, in my wildest dreams) where you could see the reflection of everyone and everything in the room.. except for yourself. Kind of like a vampire. How does it feel to not be able to find your reflection? This idea came  from my visual research on victims and tyrants, and my reading of 'The Nausea' by Jean Paul Sartre. 


..Hell is other people'...  he writes, and it refers to the need of the other recognition in order to exist. I am only from the moment you can see me, there for we are in a never ending search for this eyes, for this response from the other to our existence, this is reflection. Where you can not reflect you don't exist, Invisibility is the end and the beginning of all cruelty.


The reason I came back to him was the use he gives to different planes in his 3 dimensional painting, giving an amazing illusion of movement and space. I wondered if I could use his tricks for making the mirror, perhaps using some weird angles I can find the way to make the person standing right in front of it disappear, not find his reflection, become invisible.

Ruptures, at the Drawin Room on Brunswic Laburnum Street, London, E2 8BD





"... Monika Grzymala’s installations function somewhere between an architectural intervention and immense line drawings. Grzymala’s installation for The Drawing Room is a personal response to the chaotic London sky-line, to the architectural space of the gallery and to the ideas explored in the Hayward Touring exhibition, ‘The end of the line: attitudes in drawing’, of which this commission is part.

Grzymala describes each drawing in space in terms of kilometres of used line which references the personal investment of time and energy. For Ruptures the lines will be created from sticky tape in varying tones of grey, a nod to the predominance of grey in our city. These lines will be interrupted and converge on given points, collide and ricochet, sending out reports, staccato marks to bombard other areas. Miraculously the eye will fill in the gaps, create the continuum capable of maintaining the velocity of the multiple lines. The rectilinear properties of The Drawing Room will be ruptured by the maelstrom of activity that punctuates the space...."

I found the review of her exhibition in Art Rabbit very interesting, and related it immediately with my research on space, yet when I visited the exhibition I found  it actually rather disturbing when in looking through her books in the Gallery I found this project called Colours a conversation with trees. An installation where fills op the space with branches painted in bright colours. This discovery was after I made my branches about territorial claims for the Crypt Gallery. Also at this time I started to find more and more work from other people working with colouful branches, Like Mattew Josep Spencer or the guerilla Knitting collective, somehow I did not find this inspiring. I wanted to continue with my project but in a different way. I went back to the research on uses of space and ways of claiming territories.
